The Head of International Federation for Human Rights FIDH madam Souhayr Belhassen made a statement in support of Ales Bialiatski and the initiative of International Day of solidarity with civil society in Belarus.
Souhayr Belhassen the head of the world's oldest human rights organization, issued a statement in support of Ales Bialiatski and campaigns related to the International Day of Solidarity with the civil society in Belarus.
Madam Belhassen is the leader of one of the Tunisian human rights organization, and has headed the International Federation for Human Rights for several years, where Ales Bialiatski holds the post of vice-president.
"The members of the International Federation for Human Rights (164 human rights organizations from around the world) have been actively involved for a year now into the campaign for release of Ales Bialiatski, and the anniversary of his arrest reminds us again of the critical situation with civil society in Belarus. Despite the hard times that touched all of those not indifferent to this country - journalists, human rights activists, lawyers and opposition activists – our Belarus colleagues amaze us all with stability of their convictions, never-ending struggle for freedom and human dignity, and their personal courage. On behalf of all members of the Federation, I would like to express our support for the Campaign for the International Day of Solidarity with the civil society in Belarus, and also our gratitude to the organizers and participants. "
